Dear [Name,fallback=]

Over the past few years, we have experienced some amazing highs in stock prices and seasonal conditions. After 3 years of drought, it was a welcome reprieve. In our part of the world, we are now experiencing more like a normal to below average season.

Seasonal conditions coupled with supply and demand are all relative to the current prices being received. A positive looking forward is the commencement of the free trade agreement for Australia to the UK on the 31st May will be good for beef producers. In the first year 35,000 ton of beef can enter duty free with the volume increasing year by year and after 10 years it's set to have no restrictions.

We continue in a growth phase at Futurity joining just under 1000 Shorthorn and Charolais females in 2022. The focus remains across the 2 breeds to produce easy care cattle for the cow calf producer, polled and with quality carcase and marbling.

Our aim is to move the quality of the whole herd forward. This is done by individually selecting sires to match the phenotype and genotype of the females. Programming over 600 females to AI last year presented a few challenges.

In the leadup to AIíng heifers at Raeburn, a large amount of rain fell, and we were unsure if we were going to be able to access the property. The heifers were sinking to their belly in the force yard and the crew were covered in mud, all were very happy to have the job finished. It wasn't all bad glamping at The Ridges to AI the Charolais cows. The rain was forecast and the creeks rose blocking access, so we decided to camp. The title for who was cards champion is still being debated!!

Futurity Steer wins Reserve Champion Light Middle Weight

Congratulation to Calrossy students and teacher Kathy de Jong for being awarded the Reserve Champion Light Middle Weight steer on the hoof at the Wingham Beef Week.

The 12 month old, pure shorthorn steer was very competitive amongst cross bred and European breed animals. In the carcase results receiving full marks for carcase specifications and eating quality MSA index 61.63 to receive a 2nd place with total points of 86.37. The steers sire Daytona is in the Top 1% of the breed for Calving ease, Birth Weight, Maternal calving ease, Marbling and API. The first of his progeny will sell in this year's sale.

Events like the Beef Week are a great opportunity for young people to experience and be part of the Beef Industry. We like to encourage and support this type of event to help grow future leaders.
