Last Friday night at the Queensland Fine Foods awards the Thousand Guineas Shorthorn Beef won Gold for being the best MSA grain fed steak.

Congratulations to JBS, a huge achievement as only 1 Gold Medal is awarded per class.

The Thousand Guineas brand has strong support from our customer base both domestically and internationally.  Of recent, Thousand Guineas Brand has gained traction into the Middle East as a point of difference to the Angus programs being produced Globally, while this is only a small percentage of our production, it’s a very important percentage of our production.  Just over 50% of the Shorthorn produced continues to go into the Japanese market with 25% of the program staying here in Australia. JBS continues to see this brand grow and look forward to the support of our Shorthorn producers.

450 - 500kg @ $5.80/kg = $2900/hd

380 – 450kg @ $6.25/kg = $2812/hd

By supplying to the TG program, you can receive a 30-cent premium over the Midfed 1 rate and equal to the Angus rate.

Welcome to the Futurity team - Lochie Collins

Lochie and his partner Sarah will be based at The Ridges & Wilgadeen, Baradine.

He will be responsible for running  the Charolais herd and Properties.

As many of you may be aware Futurity purchased the entire Temana Charolais herd and Properties towards the end of 2021.

The Temana herd was established in 1975 by Kylie’s parents Terry and Maylene Griffin. Temana cattle have a resounding reputation for being Charolais with that bit of extra softness without compromising the muscling and maturity pattern. We appreciate the opportunity, thank and complement Terry and Maylene for their dedication to breeding such quality stock for the past 47 years. Terry and Maylene now reside on their ”Finisher Block”, 100 acres just out of Dubbo.

The breeding program for the Charolais will fall into alignment with our current program, by measuring and recording performance, focussing on fertility and efficiencies of females to produce easy care stock for beef breeders.

We were delighted to be awarded one of the TOP 100 Producers Meat Standards Australia Excellence in Eating Qality Awards for 2021.

The MSA Excellence in Eating Quality Awards aim to raise awareness of MSA best practice by recognising those producers in each state who consistently deliver superior eating quality beef for the benefit of consumers and the profitability of the industry.

Our goal of producing a quality product along the supply chain from the producer to consumer has been partly recognised by this award.
